Blasting to recommence at Quarry in late August

Plans are now underway to recommence works at the Young Road Quarry from 27 August 2024 with an aim to conduct blasting shortly afterwards.

NIRC envisions that there will be some minor disruptions to access of Cascade Jetty and Youngs Road while blasting is carried out, and the community will kept informed of this via announcements on Norfolk Radio and posts on Council’s facebook page.

Road closures put into effect during this time will ensure public safety during the blasting period, and we thank the community for their understanding and patience when this occurs.

Council expects to recover approximately 13,500T of rock that will provide a valuable supply of material for use in vital road works and a number of minor projects to be undertaken around the island.
