IVENS F (TOON) BUFFETT ENVIRONMENTAL TRUST PROJECTS - ROUND 7 OPENING SOON

11 August 2023

Norfolk Island Regional Council is excited to be opening round 7 of The Toon Buffett Environmental Trust Fund on the 18th August. This trust fund was established in 2005 by the Australian and Norfolk Island Governments in honour of the late Ivens F (Toon) Buffett. The objective of the Trust is to finance individuals or groups, initiatives relating to environmental protection, heritage protection, natural resource management, and land management. Funds were derived from the transfer of Crown leases on Norfolk Island to freehold title and were placed in the Trust to be distributed back to the community through grants in accordance with funding guidelines.

The last round of projects (Round 6) was in 2012 with 18 applications received, the highest number ever and 9 projects were successful, worth a combined total of $77,309.

This funding is to assist the community in achieving environmental and biodiversity outcomes on their land with public benefit. Projects that contribute to improved water quality or water retention will be prioritised in this funding round. However, if you have a project that does not focus on improved water quality or water retention but is in line with the other environmental aims of the funding, you can still apply. The funding opens on the 18 August 2023 and closes on the 29 September 2023.
