Norfolk Island Bee Pest and Disease Survey – thank you

22 April 2022

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped and welcomed me for the second part of the 2022 Norfolk Island Bee Pest and Disease Survey. I was on island collecting samples from 2-7 April , and I was pleased to reconnect with the beekeeping community of Norfolk. I am happy to share the preliminary findings, from my first survey in December 2021, indicating that that the bees on island are very healthy. I anticipate the second survey will confirm these findings. I hope to have the full findings and reports to you by the end of this year. I have very much enjoyed both trips I have had to Norfolk Island, and I have learnt a lot from the community. If you have any additional questions or concerns please get in contact with myself (John.Roberts@csiro.au) or the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications (Norfolkislandteam@infrastructure.gov.au).

This survey was funded by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications and supported by the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment.
