Norfolk Island Teacher Consultative Committee – Communique #6

15 October 2021

The Committee met on Thursday 7 October.

The Committee noted with thanks the gesture of goodwill shown by the teaching staff and members of the NSW Teachers Federation to suspend planned industrial action for two weeks.

In response to questions received from teaching staff, further advice was provided by Queensland officials on qualification requirements for guidance officers in Queensland schools.

Officials from Queensland and New South Wales will update the Committee at the next meeting on work in progress to address the key issues of leave portability and superannuation arrangements.

The Committee was informed that a paper-based intention to enrol form is being developed as an interim solution to support enrolment of prospective students for 2022. This will enable NICS to plan for classes and required learning supports for the 2022 school year.

The Committee will meet again on Thursday 14 October 2021.
