Norfolk Island Teacher Consultative Committee – Communique #9

The Committee met on Thursday 28 October 2021.

The Committee welcomed the announcement earlier in the week that the agreement had been signed by the Commonwealth and Queensland governments to support delivery of state-type services to Norfolk Island.

The Committee noted that consideration of the critical issues of leave portability and superannuation arrangements is ongoing. This remains a priority and parties are working hard to resolve any outstanding issues so that employment offers can be made to teaching staff interested in remaining at the Norfolk Island Central School in 2022.

The Commonwealth encouraged teaching staff to seek independent financial advice to help assess the impact of changes in their employment arrangements. Access to financial advice will be funded by the Commonwealth.

The Committee will meet again on Friday 5 November 2021.
