Thank you from the Agriculture Victoria Research team

31 March 2022

The Agriculture Victoria Research team would like to say a big thank you to everyone who welcomed and helped us with the Norfolk Island plant pest and disease survey while we were on island between 10 and 19 March. We visited more than 46 locations and sampled across six scientific disciplines. This will provide important information that can be used to inform the management of pests and diseases on Norfolk Island, helping to protect its unique environment.

Over the coming months, we will be analysing samples and will provide landholders with results from their properties. We will be back on island in October to complete the spring survey and look forward to seeing many of you again then.

We still need your help – if you see anything of concern that you would like to have sampled and tested between now and October, please contact the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications at Norfolkislandteam@infrastructure.gov.au or on 23315. They will provide you with sample bags and tubes, and can advise on how to send them to our research lab.

Finally, we would like to thank the Department for funding this survey, and the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment for their support.
